Goetzis Wrestling training centre

The property for the new wrestling training center is in a slightly rising area beside forest edge and Emme river near the local swimming-pool. A simple massive building reacts with few apertures to the special topographic situation. Several double rooms as overnight accommodations at training camps and club rooms at the lower level are orientated downhill by a long tape window. Changing rooms and sanitary arrangements are situated in the unexposed slope area. The main zone of the training hall is steadily exposed by means of skylights, the service zone of the hall is divided by room-high cupboard elements and offers space for gymnastic and fitness stations. The facades of the volume are of fair faced concrete, the wall claddings and furniture of the inside zones of birch plywood. The building inscription as a playful element of 800 small truncated cones of concrete amuses the austere volume stamped by its functions.
