Au Primary School with Dual Sports Hall
The self-contained, virtually square basic shape acts as a new organizing element between the existing buildings of the school and clubhouse. At the same time it has a respectful attitude to the surroundings and forms a new, recognizable location. The positioning of the new volume is tangential to the existing access axis, its alignment orthogonal to the existing structure of the school. By setting the building back from the main road, it blurs the distinction between enclosed, built space and outdoor areas. The stacking of the functions and the organization in a single compact volume create a simple but strong form.
