  • VWG Koblach Operations Centre

The design for the new facility adopts the longitudinal orientation of the surrounding structures. Two parallel layers of simple rectangular buildings are shifted against each other and develop a variety of outdoor spaces. This offset arrangement combines with varying building heights to generate an excitingly but homogenous built environment. The central position of the building on the property develops two different outdoor areas: a forecourt for arrival, entrance and parking as well as a courtyard for the other operations. The offset encloses specific external zones for each individual function and at the same time shortens distances within the building, helping to optimize the operational processes. In a simple conceptual and constructional way, a logical assignment of the external surfaces takes place – a clear logistical and safety regime with a clear interpretation of the areas in INTERNAL and EXTERNAL.
