Company Building Felder Metallhandwerk Egg
The site for the new company building is located on the road between Egg and Schwarzenberg and is characterised by its narrow layout and a pronounced slope. The linear structure pushes into the steeply rising terrain, responding to the specific topographical situation with different building depths depending on function, and disappears completely into the terrain on the north side. All components for slope stabilisation and bracing are constructed using solid building methods and supplemented by a wooden support structure, which shapes the appearance of the building on the street side in the form of a calm slatted façade. The rhythm of the façade provides information about the various functional areas of administration and production, while the intensively greened roof extends the meadow landscape and serves as grazing land for the owner´s sheep. The production area of the metal workshop with dense support structure is divided into a high, two-storey area for the assembly of stainless steel elements and a two-storey area for welding and sheet metal working. The linear arrangement creates clear production and logistics axes, which are used by crane tracks and forklifts. The administrative area on the west side appears as an open structure and marks the entrance and address. The ground floor houses the office space for the metalworking business, while the upper floor contains consultation and seminar rooms, as well as a divisible hall for events for up to 80 people with a kitchen and foyer. The long building does not seek to be loud; it aims to integrate itself into the topography and landscape through restraint and materials.
