  • Fellengatter Education Centre Frastanz

Within the Fellengatter neighbourhood´s diverse ensemble of buildings, a central facility for education, childcare, sports and events is being built. On a beautiful hillside location, our project responds to the complex local conditions of topography, the dominance of roads, and the neighbouring buildings, with a freestanding structure on a polygonal ground plan. Like a well-balanced and complementary addition, the two-storey building to the south and south-west takes on the height of the surrounding buildings, while on the valley side it develops into a four-storey building due to the topography, giving it a presence that corresponds to its content. The polygonal basic form results in short façade sections which create a scaled integration of the building mass, while the compact organisation enables a small footprint and a good fit into the terrain with highly functional and generous outdoor spaces. Different spatial qualities develop individual atmospheres and distinctive places. These unique qualities are supported by a sustainable, sensual construction and material concept predominantly made of the renewable raw material wood.
